From Discarded Clothing To New Possibilities
Converte World began in 2018, working with Kenyan manufacturing partners to develop an affordable, accessible upcycled fashion brand designed to operate at-scale using surplus and post-consumer apparel.
That hands-on experience revealed an opportunity beyond fashion: understanding the materials and resources within existing products could unlock new uses, businesses and livelihoods.
Converte Global builds on that experience, moving from making new products to discovering the potential of what already exists.
What We Are Developing
DATASET
Build the dataset
Standardise industrial deadstock and post-consumer apparel flows at source.
Community partners tag items with a simple prompt app (1–2 minutes: type, fibre clues, condition, trims).
Clear categories unlock scalable sorting and form the labelled dataset that powers image-assisted AI.
PLATFORM
Create the AI
Build model logic trained on community-tagged data to classify standardised apparel signals and output decision-ready signals with category routing at scale.
This gives operators (brands, recyclers, municipal sorters) a shared, consistent baseline to sort faster, cut storage/write-offs, lift routing yield, and monetise waste.
BRAND WAYste
Close the loop with WAYste
WAYste turns verified inputs into upcycled products co-created with the communities who build the dataset. Working with designers and local business support, contributors develop and launch limited lifestyle and apparel lines. WAYste creates a practical route into jobs, growth and opportunity for women and youth.
